Stop #7 Guest Artist: Chery Cratty
(Tiny Vistas miniature painting)
"Much of my inspiration comes from my photographs, although my work is majorly influenced by my locale. Living as I do surrounded by trees and at the edge of a deep ravine filled with even more trees allows me daily contact with the textures and movement of nature.
Fusing casein and watercolor gives me the ability to create both opaque and transparent passages as well as adding, subtracting, and reworking as needed. Acid-free artboard provides strength and a non-warping painting surface. After allowing a few days to be sure the paint is totally dry, wax is applied and buffed to a gentle sheen. The wax provides a surface sealant that allows the art to be left unframed. These Tiny Vistas are 2” x 2 3/4” and painted with casein and watercolor, on acid free artboard, with a final protective wax coating."
