Every fall on the last full weekend in October a free studio tour is held here in Middle Tennessee. The artists of ‘Off The Beaten Path’ Studio Art Tour welcome the public to a three (3) day, open-door studio celebration and skill share of fine craft into the work space of 14 different studios in fibers, glass, paper, wood, metal, and clay.
During the summer of 2000, Louis Colombarini and Tom Fuhrman were tossing around thoughts of living rurally as artists. Over an exchange of ideas about a a new concept where artists in urban areas opened their studio doors to the public, Louie and Tom asked “Why not a studio tour here?” Many art lovers had no clue of all the talent tucked away in these hills and hollows. What a perfect event to let the public in on the secret! Hence, ‘Off The Beaten Path Studio Tour’ was conceived and in October of 2000 12 local artists opened their studios to visitors, who were thrilled about this exciting new event. Fifteen years later, this amazing studio tour continues, boasting 14 studios and 25 artist.
